Build unshakeable confidence in kids aged 8–18 through movement mastery, so they stop freezing under pressure and start showing up as the capable kid they actually are.
They're smart. They've got everything they need. But somewhere along the way, they stopped believing it.
Maybe they freeze before challenges. Maybe they quit when it gets hard. Maybe they're capable of so much more — but they can't see it themselves.
Most confidence-building approaches work from the top down — talk, therapy, pep talks. We go the other way.
Movement mastery creates real, physical proof that your child can do hard things. That proof changes how they see themselves.
We start with fundamental physical skills — running mechanics, coordination, body awareness. Skills your child can see themselves improving at.
Each small win creates physical evidence of capability. Not words. Not encouragement. Real, tangible proof that hard things are possible.
Confidence built through the body transfers everywhere — school, sport, friendships. Because it's not borrowed confidence. It's earned.
In-person coaching at Melbourne Soft Tissue Therapy. Mick works directly with your child — assessing movement, correcting technique in real time, and giving you a clear picture of exactly what's holding your child back and what to do about it.
Most families use the clinic as the starting point, then continue into our flagship Built From The Ground Up program — with their clinic fee credited toward enrolment.

Book A Call"Mick is very knowledgeable and fantastic to work with. After just one lesson, my 15-year-old daughter's running improved dramatically. Highly recommended."
"My son went from dreading sport to actually asking to go training. His coach noticed a difference before I even told him about Mick's program. That says everything."
"Thanks so much for your work with Eli. He can be a bit difficult and moody at times, and was a little nervous at the beginning, but you really have a great way with people and kids and know how to get the best out of them.
I'll make sure he keeps up his practice—he mentioned he already feels different. When I asked how, he said, "I feel faster when I take off," which is great to hear!"
At 16, Mick was playing rugby for England U18s. By 26, a serious injury had ended his career — and with it, everything he'd built his identity around.
That experience showed him exactly how fragile confidence becomes when it's built on performance alone. And it showed him what kids actually need — not more encouragement, but unshakeable proof that they can handle hard things.
That's what Natural Born Running is built on. Movement as the foundation. Proof as the method. Confidence as the outcome.

Get Your Free Analysis →Yes. Running is the method, not the point. The seven movement standards we teach build coordination, body awareness, and physical confidence — skills that transfer directly to football, cricket, netball, swimming, or any sport your child plays. We use running because it's the clearest window into how a child moves and how they feel about moving.
Most coaching focuses on skill and performance. We focus on the gap between what your child is capable of and what they believe they're capable of. Movement mastery is the mechanism — but closing that gap is the goal. That's a different program entirely.
The program is built for kids aged 8–16, including kids who've struggled with confidence for a long time. The work starts at a level that creates early wins on purpose — because early wins are what start to shift belief.
Sessions are 15 minutes. The self-paced programs are designed to fit around training schedules, school, and life. For BFTGU, Mick works directly with you on a schedule that suits your family.
Both, intentionally. Your child does the movement work. You learn the Rescue/Push/Coach framework — how to respond in the moments that matter most. The 167 hours your child spends with you each week matters more than any single coaching session. This program makes those hours count.
Most families notice a shift in the first two to three sessions — not dramatic transformation, but something different. A willingness to try again. Less resistance before training. A small moment of pride they didn't expect. The physical changes come first. The confidence follows right behind them.
